The Sapulpa Instrumental Music Department has five bands, over 350 students, and many other ensembles where our students can study instrumental music. Students must begin their instrumental music education by studying in beginning band.

A select group of students are chosen to switch to saxophone, oboe, French horn, euphonium, and tuba in the spring. Students are encouraged to begin studying band in the 6th grade; however, they may begin their studies in the 7th grade. This band performs at two concerts, has an opportunity to perform a solo, and perform as a band in one contest.
7th Grade Band
Our 7th grade students meet together in one band directed by Ms. Barnes, assisted by Mr. Smith. These bands are available to students in their second year of band. Students continue to work on the basic fundamentals of instrumental music. There are more performance and competition opportunities for this group as compared to beginning band. These bands perform at three concerts, three contests, has the opportunity to audition for NCDA honor band and has two opportunities to perform a solo for contest.
